IHS Alumni donates more instruments

As the Intermediate High School (IHS) moves closer to celebrating its centenary (100 years) in April of this year, gifts of love for the school continue to pour in, a sure sign that alumni the world over are recognizing the role their alma mater played in their educational and professional development.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, several musical items, including an electric guitar and computer with software to enable music to be recorded and stored was handed over.  The handing over ceremony was presided over by Principal Mona Green and IHS Alumni Association President Wayne Williams.  

The donor of the gifts was alumnus Harold “Ploomie” Lewis, currently residing in the USA.  His brother Wendell Lewis handed over the gift on his behalf.

Lewis presented the gifts to Music teacher Rohan Bellingy, while Dr. Shara Stewart, who is Head of the Department under which music falls, warmly thanked the alumni for their continuing assistance to the school.

Principal Mona Green welcomed the gift noting that the school has produced musical icons, including but not limited to Alston “Beckett” Cyrus D.Lit., Kenneth “The Vibrating Skates Alleyne, Felix “Dalpin” Findley, Alvin “Zion I” Dennie, and Raeon “Maddzart” Primus.

“Ploomie” Lewis, who is scheduled for a visit to SVG later this year, intends to conduct music-related session with the students currently in ctche music programme,.  sessions with the music students.  The ultimate objective is to form a school band and soon the school will have a full complement of instruments to enable that dream to become a reality.  Music teacher Rohan Bellingy said that students who have shown interest in a particular type of instrument, are given guided opportunity to develop these musical skills.

Centenary celebrations for the IHS begin in earnest in April.

The founder of the school was Dr. John Parmenas Eustace who later established two other secondary schools.
